Tom Zappala

A businessman in the greater Boston area, Tom Zappala is passionate about maintaining the traditions and historical significance of our National Pastime. He is co-author of the award-winning books: The T206 Collection: The Players & Their Stories, The Cracker Jack Collection: Baseball’s Prized Players, The 100 Greatest Baseball Autographs, Legendary Lumber: The Top 100 Player Bats in Baseball History, An All-Star’s Cardboard Memories, Baseball & Bubble Gum: The 1952 Topps Collection, and The Diamondbacks Collection: 50 of the Greatest Cards in Sports Collecting History. He co-hosts the nationally-distributed sports collectibles video podcast, The Great American Collectibles Show and was also co-host of the humorous Italian-themed video podcast, The Sicilian Corner, for 22 years. Proud of his Italian heritage, Zappala authored Bless Me Sister, a humorous look at his experience attending an Italian parochial school. As co-owner of ATS Communications, a multimedia marketing and consulting company, Zappala handles publicity and personal appearances for several authors, artists, and entertainers. He enjoys collecting vintage baseball and boxing memorabilia for the love of the sport.

Ellen Zappala

President of ATS Communications, a multimedia marketing and consulting company, Ellen Zappala is co-author of the award-winning books The T206 Collection: The Players & Their Stories, The Cracker Jack Collection: Baseball’s Prized Players, The 100 Greatest Baseball Autographs, Legendary Lumber: The Top 100 Player Bats in Baseball History, An All-Star’s Cardboard Memories, Baseball & Bubble Gum: The 1952 Topps Collection, and The Diamondbacks Collection: 50 of the Greatest Cards in Sports Collecting History. Zappala also collaborated with former welterweight boxing champ and Boxing Hall of Famer, Tony DeMarco, on his autobiography Nardo: Memoirs of a Boxing Champion. The former publisher of a group of weekly newspapers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, Zappala also served as president of the New England Press Association. She works closely with various publishing companies on behalf other authors and handles publicity in both print and electronic media. She especially likes bringing the stories of the Deadball Era and Golden Age baseball players to life.

Joe Orlando

One of the foremost experts in the sports card and memorabilia industry, Joe Orlando has appeared as a featured guest on numerous radio and television programs, including ESPN’s Outside the Lines, HBO’s Real Sports, and the Fox Business Network. The former CEO of Collectors Universe, Inc., and president of Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), Orlando was responsible for developing the authentication and grading standards used by the hobby’s recognized leader. His diverse knowledge base helped PSA become the premier brand in the hobby. Orlando was also the editor of PSA’s Sports Market Report (SMR), a nationally distributed, monthly publication and he wrote dozens of articles for PSA’s website. Amongst other book projects, Orlando authored Collecting Sports Legends, and he was the lead author of the award-winning Legendary Lumber: The Top 100 Player Bats in Baseball History. A Boston area journalist, John Molori writes for Boston Baseball Magazine, Northeast Golf Monthly, and EBSCO Publishing. He contributed to The Cracker Jack Collection: Baseball’s Prized Players, The 100 Greatest Baseball Autographs, Legendary Lumber: The Top 100 Player Bats in Baseball History, Baseball & Bubble Gum: The 1952 Topps Collection, and The Diamondbacks Collection: 50 of the Greatest Cards in Sports Collecting History.
